Explanation: Some warning signs give advance notice of a traffic regulation, such as a stop or a yield, that is hidden by a curve or a hill. Slow down early so you can stop smoothly at the stop sign itself.

Explanation: This yellow warning sign tells you traffic lights are coming up, often where a curve or a hill hides them. Slow down and be ready to stop if the light is red or changes as you arrive.

Explanation: This sign warns of a school bus stop ahead. Watch for a bus with its lights flashing and for children near the road, and be ready to stop.

The yellow lights on this sign are flashing as you approach an intersection. What does that mean?
- A.The signal is broken; treat the intersection as a four-way stop
- B.The traffic light ahead is turning yellow or red, or is already red: prepare to stopAnswer
- C.Speed up to clear the intersection before the light changes
Explanation: This sign stands before some intersections with traffic lights. When its yellow lights flash, the signal ahead is changing from green to yellow or yellow to red, or is already red, so ease off and prepare to stop.

- B.A road joining from the right

Explanation: The bent arrow warns that the road turns sharply to the right. Reduce speed before the turn, not in it, so you can steer through with full control.

What does a yellow, diamond-shaped sign indicate?

Explanation: Yellow diamonds are warning signs: they give advance notice of a hazard, a road condition or a regulation ahead, such as a curve, a crossing or a stop. Orange diamonds are used for construction areas.

Explanation: The tab gives the recommended maximum speed for the curve when driving conditions are ideal. On a wet, icy or dark road, take the curve slower still.

Explanation: Animal crossing signs mark places where wildlife often crosses the road. Slow down, scan the ditches and roadsides well ahead, and be ready to stop; where there is one animal, others may follow.

Explanation: The bicycle crossing sign warns that cyclists cross the road ahead. Slow down and watch for bicycles entering the roadway, especially from paths beside it.

- C.Your road ends at a cross road; you will have to turn left or rightAnswer
Explanation: The T symbol warns of a T intersection: the road you are on ends at an intersecting road. Slow down, be ready to yield, and plan to turn left or right.

Explanation: This advance warning sign comes before a railway crossing. Look and listen for trains and reduce speed. A speed sign under it gives the recommended speed for the crossing, which is lower than the posted speed for the road.

Explanation: A roundabout or traffic circle is ahead. Traffic moves counterclockwise around the centre island, and vehicles entering must yield to traffic already in the circle.

Explanation: The merging traffic sign warns that vehicles from another roadway will be entering yours. Watch for them and adjust your speed or position so there is room for them to merge.

Explanation: This sign warns that the road loses grip when it is wet. In rain, slow down, leave more space ahead and avoid sudden braking or steering.

- B.Only one car at a time may use the lane

- D.The lane is too narrow to share side by side, so cyclists may use the full laneAnswer
Explanation: The lane ahead is too narrow for a vehicle and a bicycle to travel side by side, so cyclists are allowed to use the whole lane. Stay behind the cyclist until you can change lanes or pass safely.
