Divided highway begins
What it means
The road ahead splits into two roadways separated by a median. Keep to the right-hand roadway.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it
A yellow diamond with a black median island at the top and two arrows beside it, one heading down on the left and one up on the right.
Where you will see it
Where a two-way road becomes a highway split by a median. A matching sign marks where the divided highway ends.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Keep to the right of the median ahead; the roadway on the other side carries oncoming traffic.
- 2.When you turn onto a divided highway, enter the roadway on the correct side; a Wrong Way sign means you are facing oncoming traffic.
On the knowledge test
Look at the arrows: they part around the island. When the arrows come back together toward a single road, it is the “divided highway ends” sign instead.
