Alberta Class 7 Prep is a free, independent study tool for the Alberta Class 7 knowledge test, the first step to a learner’s licence. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Government of Alberta, Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors, or any registry agent.
The study guide summarizes the rules described in the Alberta Driver’s Guide (cars and light trucks) in original wording. The sign illustrations are public-domain vector reproductions and simplified drawings, not the guide’s artwork. Always confirm current fees, rules and penalties with official sources, as they change over time.
Your progress, mistakes and bookmarks are stored only in your browser (localStorage) and are never sent anywhere. No account is needed. What the analytics and advertising on the site do collect is set out in the privacy policy.
Languages
The interface, study guide and every question are available in English, French, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Switch languages at any time from the menu – your progress is shared across languages.
The real test at a glance
- 30 multiple-choice questions; 25 correct answers to pass. Taken at a registry agent office, once a day at most, with a fee each time.
- Minimum age 14 for a Class 7 learner’s licence; parental consent under 18; a vision test is required.
- Class 7 conditions: a supervisor over 18 with a full Class 5 licence in the front seat, no driving between midnight and 5 a.m., zero alcohol, no more passengers than seat belts.
- Graduated licensing: Class 7 (at least 12 months) → Class 5-GDL probationary (24 months; no advanced road test since April 2023) → full Class 5 at 18 or older.
