Sharp turn right
What it means
The road ahead turns sharply to the right. Slow down well before the turn.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it
A yellow diamond with a black arrow that bends to the right at a sharp angle. A mirrored sign warns of a sharp turn left.
Where you will see it
Before a bend so tight that it is close to a right angle, often on rural roads.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Brake before the turn, while the car is still straight, not in the turn itself.
- 2.If a yellow speed tab is posted under the sign, take the turn no faster than that, and slower when the road is wet, icy or dark.
- 3.Keep to your own lane all the way through; do not drift across the centre line.
On the knowledge test
Read the arrow: an angled arrow is a sharp turn, a gently curved one is a curve, a snaking one is a winding road. The action is the same for all three: slow down before you get there.
