What it means
Wild animals such as deer often cross the road here. Slow down, look well ahead and scan the roadsides, especially at dawn and dusk.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it

Where you will see it
Rural highways and roads where wild animals are known to cross.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Reduce speed, look well ahead and keep scanning both sides of the road.
- 2.Take extra care at dusk and dawn, and at night watch for headlights reflecting from an animal’s eyes. Animals often move in groups: one usually means more.
- 3.If an animal suddenly appears in front of you, brake hard and steer toward an escape route away from oncoming traffic.
