Roundabout ahead
What it means
A roundabout or traffic circle is ahead. Slow down, yield to traffic already in the circle and travel counterclockwise around the centre island.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it

Where you will see it
On the approach to a roundabout or traffic circle.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down and read the signs and pavement markings to choose your lane before the entrance.
- 2.Yield to traffic already in the circle, then travel counterclockwise around the centre island.
- 3.Turn on your right signal after you pass the exit before yours, and watch for pedestrians at the crossings, which are set back from the circle.
On the knowledge test
Two facts decide most questions: traffic always goes counterclockwise, and entering vehicles yield to vehicles already in the circle. A roundabout has a smaller centre island and a tighter curve than a traffic circle.
