What it means
Traffic from a road on the right joins your road ahead. Adjust your speed and leave room for merging vehicles; merging is a shared responsibility.

How to recognise it
A yellow diamond with a straight black arrow and a shorter line joining it from the right.
Where you will see it
Where a ramp or another roadway joins yours and the two become one.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Watch for vehicles joining your road from the right.
- 2.Adjust your speed, or change lanes when it is safe, to leave them room to merge.
On the knowledge test
The trap is right-of-way: neither the merging vehicle nor the vehicles already on the road have it. Merging is a shared responsibility.
