Pedestrian crossing
What it means
Marks a pedestrian crossing that has no flashing lights. Be ready to stop and yield to pedestrians waiting to cross or already crossing.
White with black or red; a red circle with a slash means prohibited, a green circle means permitted.

How to recognise it
A white square showing a black walking figure on a line, with no yellow lights.
Where you will see it
At marked crosswalks, often between intersections.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down and look for pedestrians at or near the crossing.
- 2.Yield to anyone waiting to cross or already crossing, and stop if needed.
- 3.Never pass a vehicle that has stopped for a pedestrian.
On the knowledge test
The guide shows this crossing sign with and without yellow lights. Without lights you yield as at any crosswalk; with flashing lights, you also slow to a maximum of 30 km/h.
