Pedestrian crossing with flashing yellow lights
What it means
Yellow lights on a school, playground or pedestrian crossing sign call for caution. When they are flashing, slow to no more than 30 km/h and yield or stop for pedestrians.

How to recognise it
A white rectangular sign with a black figure of a person walking across a line, and a yellow light on each side.
Where you will see it
School and playground zones or areas, school crossings and pedestrian crossings.
What to do when you see it
- 1.When the yellow lights are flashing, slow to no more than 30 km/h.
- 2.Yield to the pedestrians, or stop for them, until they have crossed.
- 3.Never pass a vehicle that has stopped for a pedestrian at the crossing.
On the knowledge test
The figure to remember is 30 km/h as a maximum while the lights flash, plus yield or stop for pedestrians. Yellow lights on a sign always mean caution is required.
