End of school zone
What it means
The school zone ends here. A school zone also ends where a sign shows a higher maximum speed. The same rule applies to playground zones.
White with black or red; a red circle with a slash means prohibited, a green circle means permitted.
Summarised from the Alberta Driver’s Guide. Read the original: Traffic control ↗
How to recognise it
A plain sign reading END SCHOOL ZONE in black letters.
Where you will see it
At the far end of a school zone, for traffic leaving it.
What to do when you see it
- 1.The school zone speed limit and its no-passing rule end here.
- 2.Return to the limit that applies to the road, and keep watching for children near the school.
On the knowledge test
A school zone ends at a sign showing either a higher maximum speed or the end of the zone. Playground zones end the same way.
