Left turn lane
What it means
A designated lane sign: the arrow shows the only direction a vehicle in this lane may travel. Traffic in this lane must turn left.
White with black or red; a red circle with a slash means prohibited, a green circle means permitted.

How to recognise it
A black square with a white arrow curving to the left: a lane control sign.
Where you will see it
Over or beside a left-turn lane as you approach an intersection.
What to do when you see it
- 1.If you are in this lane, you must turn left.
- 2.If you want to go straight, move out of this lane before the intersection, when it is safe.

Designated lane signs tell you the direction you must travel from that lane. White arrows on black mean lane control, not permission to choose.
