Summarised from the Alberta Driver’s Guide. Read the original: Traffic control ↗
How to recognise it
A fluorescent yellow-green diamond with two black figures of children walking on a line.
Where you will see it
Ahead of a crosswalk that children use on their way to and from school.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down and watch for children near and on the road.
- 2.Be ready to stop and yield to anyone at the school crosswalk, and never pass a vehicle stopped there for a pedestrian.
On the knowledge test
The fluorescent yellow-green colour points to children and schools. A diamond warns of a crosswalk; the pentagon marks a school zone or area, and only the pentagon with a maximum speed sign makes it a school zone, with its posted speed (30 km/h unless otherwise posted) while the zone is in effect.
