What it means
Workers are on or near the road ahead. Obey the construction speed limit at all times, even when nobody appears to be working; fines are doubled when workers are present.
Orange signs mark construction zones and other temporary conditions.

How to recognise it

Where you will see it
Well before a construction zone, warning of workers, a lane reduction or a lane closure ahead.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Obey the construction zone speed limit at all times, even when no one appears to be working.
- 2.Expect hazards such as bumps, fresh oil and loose gravel, and be prepared to slow down and stop.
- 3.Obey every traffic control device and the directions of any flag person.
On the knowledge test
The trap answer says the construction speed limit applies only when workers are present. It applies at all times; what changes when workers are present is that fines are doubled.
