Solid yellow light
What it means
The light is about to turn red. Stop before the stop line or crosswalk unless you are already so close that stopping cannot be done safely; if you are already in the intersection, clear it.

How to recognise it
The yellow lens in the centre lit steadily, not flashing.
Where you will see it
Every signalized intersection, between the green and the red.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Stop before the stop line or crosswalk, or before the intersection if there is neither.
- 2.Go on only if you have reached a point where stopping can no longer be done safely.
- 3.If you are already in the intersection, clear it safely.
On the knowledge test
Yellow is not “speed up”. It warns that red comes immediately, so the default is to stop; you continue only when stopping would be unsafe.
