Pedestrian signal – walk
What it means
The WALK word or walking-person symbol tells pedestrians they may enter the crosswalk when it is safe. For a driver it also means the parallel green light will stay green for now.

How to recognise it
A white walking figure lit on a dark signal face. Some signals show the word WALK instead.
Where you will see it
Signalized intersections and crossings, mounted across the road facing people on the far curb.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Expect pedestrians to step into the crosswalk; when you turn, yield to them.
- 2.Read it as a clue about your own light: while it shows WALK, the green light for your direction will stay green.

For pedestrians it means they may enter the crosswalk when it is safe. For drivers the guide uses it as the stale-green tip: WALK means the light will stay green.
