Lane reversal signal – red X
What it means
Do not enter or stay in the lane under the red X: it is being used by oncoming traffic. Move safely into a lane showing a green arrow.

How to recognise it
A red X lit on a dark panel hung over a driving lane.
Where you will see it
Over reversible lanes, whose direction of travel changes at different times of the day.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Do not enter the lane under the red X, and do not stay in it: oncoming traffic is using it.
- 2.If you are in it, move safely into a lane with a green arrow.
